The 15th Annual Ruth First Memorial Lecture was delivered by Niren Tolsi on Thursday evening, on the eve of Media Freedom Day, marking the clampdown on newspapers by the Apartheid state on 19 October 1977 – at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Tolsi’s talk focued on fire and media, towards a new journalism in South Africa.
