COORDINATOR FOR COURSES AND TRAINING
The Market Photo Workshop requires a Coordinator for Courses and Training to coordinate the short and long courses of the Market Photo Workshop.
The Market Photo Workshop is dedicated to the training of new photographers and furthering the practice as a viable career choice. The current short course offerings of Foundation and Intermediate Courses and year programmes of the Advanced Programme in Photography and the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme train over 120 students per year. Various Public Programme activities are integrated with the training to ensure a practical understanding of visual culture.
Main purpose of the job:
To facilitate teaching and learning by co-ordinating processes and people for successful realisation of learning and teaching outcomes of the Market Photo Workshop short and long courses, and of the broader Photo Workshop objectives. To contribute towards the development of curriculum documents, course outlines, learning and teaching support material, monitoring implementation, and reviewing/evaluating courses. The position is on full time basis.
Job requirements
- A relevant qualification (photography, visual arts, media, journalism), preferably a degree or Diploma
- Minimum 2 year’s experience in photography practice and/or training in photography from a recognised institution
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a leadership role and/or demonstrable leadership potential
- A good, well-informed understanding of photography in South Africa, Africa and globally
- Deal with stakeholders − curriculum manager, students, trainers, tutors, advisory board sub-committee, support staff, etc.
- Good communication, writing and budgeting skills
- Excellent computer skills – especially MAC based, good knowledge and understanding of Photoshop, internet research, email
- Work well under pressure
- Experience of working at an education and training NGO or similar organisation would be an advantage
- Compliment the skills set of the Market Photo Workshop

Remuneration:
Salary after deduction will range from R10,000 – R12,987.99 per month negotiated according to qualifications and experience.

VACANCY
MANAGER: PHOTOJOURNALISM AND DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAMME (PDP)
The Market Photo Workshop requires a manager to conceptualise, plan and manage Photojournalism and Documentary Programmes in the training and cultural environment of the Market Photo Workshop.
Main purpose of the job:
To realise and manage the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme (PDP), including the management of the curriculum, training, resources and projects to ensure proper and relevant education – and the achievement and fulfilment of strategic objectives of the PDP in particular and in broad those of the Market Photo Workshop.
Job requirements
- A critical awareness of the nature and role of photography, and of the training and development landscape.
- Knowledge of and interest in photography across various practices: with a particular focus on photojournalism and documentary practices.
- Must have exposure and experience in media, education, journalism and photography.
- Minimum 3 years experience in Management
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills
Level of education: A relevant bachelor’s degree – and ideally a post-graduate qualification

Remuneration:
Up to R221,000 per annum cost to company. Annually renewable based on availability of funding and performance. Negotiated according to suitablibity of experience and qualification.
