Africa investor (Ai) is offering an all-rounder editorial/marketing role for an eager individual looking to hone their talent through a mid-level position with a leading African publication/events/research company.
Ai needs a creative, dynamic and hard-working individual to oversee the company’s editorial/marketing/research department. The applicant must have zeal for the magazine industry with at least three years’ experience in the magazine/media industry and a degree/diploma in their respective field.
The candidate will need to be prepared for a high-pressure environment but the opportunity for growth is unmatched. No task is too big or too small for the candidate.
He/she should be available to start at Ai as soon as possible. Own transport to and from work essential.
Duties include:
- Working with the CEO/Managing Editor and sales team to generate seminal content for Africa investor magazine and other Ai projects
- Development, management and execution of the editorial strategies within all editorial content to increase readership and generate leads
- Management of small editorial team, including designer and intern
- Ensuring the production of optimal editorial and marketing content – must have an extremely fine eye for detail
- Writing of articles, letters, blogs, newsletters, media posts, etc. in conjunction with the CEO/Managing Editor and sales team
- Researching of editorial stories through internal and external sources
- Management of the overall editorial production schedule
- Commissioning and supervision of freelance contributors and ensuring that the allocated work is completed within the given time
- Overseeing editorial budget and timely payment schedules
- Management and execution of the entire editorial process standards and guidelines
- Management of all web and social media platforms
- Overseeing production of monthly newsletters and website content
- Production and dissemination of marketing materials (press releases, e-flashes, etc.)
- Liaising with key media and PR contacts to ensure maximum visibility of Ai products
- Special ad hoc research projects
- Some administrative duties
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Relevant experience (minimum three years in magazine publishing)
