Talks between ANC MPs and the party's leadership on what to do with the
embattled SABC board were set to continue after a failure to
reach agreement on Monday, writes Siyabonga Mkhwanazi in The Star.
ANC MPs who serve on the National Assembly's communications committee were at Luthuli House on Monday to meet the communications sub-committee of the ANC national executive committee.
At issue was whether to appoint a new SABC board, incuding a new chairperson and deputy.
A source said the meeting had deadlocked over two issues: whether to sack the entire board or merely to fill three positions left vacant since the resignations of board members Christine Qunta, Peter Vundla and Fadila Lagadien. "The issue is whether we dissolve (the board) or replace it. We are still trying to find a convergence of views," the source said.
A senior ANC MP told The Star the study group had been summoned to party headquarters to deal with the saga.
