Jacques Pauw, one of South Africa’s top investigative journalists, is joining the Wits Justice Project as Director.

He will start work in June 2009. Jacques is best known for his revelations in Vrye Weekblad (Free Weekly) about the apartheid death squads run by the police. The commander of the police death unit was eventually convicted and sentenced to six life sentences. Jacques Pauw also made Truth Commission Special Report for SABC, which won the International Foreign Correspondent’s Award.
