Sthembiso Msomi has resigned as political editor of City Press, write Phakamisa Ndzamela and a Staff Reporter.
Mathatha Tsedu , the paper’s editor-in-chief, said Msomi “resigned beginning of the monthâ€ÂÂ. Tsedu would not comment on the reasons for Msomi’s departure. “I think it’s fair that you call him,†said Tsedu.
Msomi is keeping mum about his next move: “I’m not willing right now to say where I am going because I am still contracted to City Press.†However Msomi has indicated that he will not be leaving journalism. “I will never be a very good spindoctor.â€ÂÂ.
However, he denied he would be going to the Sunday Times.
Mondli Makhanya , the editor of the Sunday Times, would not deny or confirm whether Msomi was joining his team. “Ask him [Msomi],†said Makhanya.
Msomi said there was no conflict between him and City Press.“I’m moving because I thought it was time for me to pursue a career somewhere else. I regard this place as home. I have grown a lot.â€ÂÂ
Tsedu could not shed light on who is to replace Msomi as City Press political editor.
