Sthembiso Msomi has resigned as political editor of City Press, write Phakamisa Ndzamela and a Staff Reporter.
Mathatha Tsedu , the paper’s editor-in-chief, said Msomi “resigned beginning of the month”. Tsedu would not comment on the reasons for Msomi’s departure. “I think it’s fair that you call him,” said Tsedu.

Msomi is keeping mum about his next move: “I’m not willing right now to say where I am going because I am still contracted to City Press.” However Msomi has indicated that he will not be leaving journalism. “I will never be a very good spindoctor.”.

However, he denied he would be going to the Sunday Times.


Mondli Makhanya
, the editor of the Sunday Times, would not deny or confirm whether Msomi was joining his team. “Ask him [Msomi],” said Makhanya.

Msomi said there was no conflict between him and City Press.“I’m moving because I thought it was time for me to pursue a career somewhere else. I regard this place as home. I have grown a lot.”

Tsedu could not shed light on who is to replace Msomi as City Press political editor.
