Chris Cramer is soon to leave his position at the head of CNN
after a decade turning the network into a truly international network, writes Raymond Snoddy in The Independent. But
he’s not about to retire.

Rather, he has a vision of launching a new online television
news service that could shake up broadcasting in Britain.  And he hopes that contributions from users
will enrich the offering, without compromising the standards. He also sees a
future for more opinion-based TV journalism.

After having been part of the Iranian embassy siege in London in 1980, he has
retained an interest and involvement in issues around the safety of
journalists.
