The Caxton Magazines Creative Studio is looking for an intern copywriter who will create content for the commercial division: advertising, digital, Insights and marketing. This is a six-month contract position, paying R5000 a month. Will suit a new graduate looking for experience.
Experience
- NQF Level 5, Tertiary Education in Journalism, diploma in copywriting or writing experience
- An excellent command of the English language
- Ability to write in Afrikaans an advantage
Key job competencies required
- A love for writing and creating fantastic headlines, blurbs, editorial and eye-catching adverts
- Ability to come up with fantastic ideas for different clients and in-house activations or campaigns and follow them through to the end of the campaign
- Able to write across different titles, brands and genres
- A sound knowledge of relevant computer software such as Microsoft Word
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign is advantageous
- Ability to work fast and accurately
- Managing multiple projects to ensure all elements are running smoothly and to deadline, while ensuring excellent communications between sales, digital, studio and magazine brand
- Check copy for readability and style, ensuring campaign consistency
- May carry out research and confirm sources for writers and verify facts
- Ensure copy and layout work well together and that all copy is in line with client strategy and requirements
- Prepare copy for print and assist with changes
- Ability to work according to format
- Proofread and edit to ensure copy is on tone, on strategy and adheres to editorial, social media and digital content best practice.
- Reading and researching to keep up with the latest thinking and trends in magazine brands
- Writing scripts for video and radio as part of print and digital campaigns
