Rhodes University’s Sol Plaatje Institute (SPI) for Media Leadership, Africa’s only university-level media management and leadership institute, invites managers of radio stations and television channels from media organizations across the African continent to attend a National Qualifications Framework Level 6 accredited and certificated five-day broadcast management short course.
The course will provide participants with insights and practical skills to help them make direct interventions in their respective radio stations and television channels. It also focuses on integrated strategies for managing key elements in broadcasting.
The course, known as the Essentials of Broadcast Management, will run at the SPI on the following dates: 24-28 October 2016.
It focuses on the following key areas:
- Leadership and Management
- Programme Management
- Managing the budget
- Advertising and Marketing
- Human Resource Management
- New Regulatory Environment
- Editorial Independence and Ethics
Sessions are led by industry and academic experts. We do offer the option of running the course in-house at your organization, which would eliminate the cost of travel and accommodation for participants.
Please note that an in-house course will only take place if there are 16 or more participants attending the course.
The course is primarily intended for broadcast managers who are responsible for developing and implementing strategies for their respective organizations. It emphasizes interactive learning and knowledge-sharing, especially learning by doing, and represents a very useful platform to network with managers and organisations spanning across the African continent.
