JOURNALISM AND MEDIA STUDIES – WEB EDITOR
The Department of Journalism in the School of Literature, Language and Media is seeking to employ a full-time Web Editor and Lecturer/Tutor in Journalism on a one-year renewable contract. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Edit and maintain the department’s web and social media properties;
- Develop and run a new website dedicated to coverage of media innovation across Southern Africa, including the development of a network of correspondents;
- Assist in tutoring and teaching of students in online journalism.
Applicants should be committed to excellence in both journalism and teaching, be self-motivating and have an interest in media across the region. They should have at least two years of experience of online journalism. This is an editorial job, but skills in the technical aspects of web development would be an advantage.
Requirements for Lecturer position:
Degree in Journalism or a cognate discipline, a PhD plus two years’ experience in online journalism (or equivalent).
Requirements for Tutor position:
Degree in Journalism or a cognate discipline, a Masters or PhD in progress, and two years’ experience in online journalism.
