JOURNALISM AND MEDIA STUDIES – Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Two-year contract position Grant funded
The Department of Journalism in the School of Literature and Language Studies is seeking to employ a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer on a two-year contract, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach Journalism and Media Studies courses, particularly in the fields of investigative and/or digital journalism;
- Co-ordinate and grow the mid-career Honours and short-course programmes, which aim to develop the skills of working journalists;
- Conduct and supervise research.
Applicants should be committed to excellence in both journalism and teaching and have strong professional experience, including at senior editorial levels. They should be self-motivated and have an extensive understanding of the changing skills needs of working journalists.
Requirements of a candidate for Lecturer: A Masters or PhD in Journalism or cognate discipline or equivalent professional experience in the field, together with teaching and research experience.
Requirements of a candidate for Senior Lecturer: A PhD in Journalism or cognate discipline, strong teaching and research experience.
