SOWETO police were hunting for the murderers of Bona magazine editor Force Khashane, writes Werner Swart in The Times.

Khashane, 59, who previously edited Drum magazine and was also chairman of Soweto TV, was shot dead at his home in Orlando East on Wednesday night.

Although it is understood his attackers took only his cellphone and laptop, police would not say whether there was more to the murder than robbery.

Khashane is believed to have been shot six times and was rushed to the Lesedi Clinic, where he died.

It is understood he went out of his house to investigate a noise and was shot by two men who entered his yard.

“Force was a good, honest and down-to-earth man. He was always there when you needed help. One of the most reliable people I knew ,” said Soweto TV chief executive Tsepo Thafeng.
