South African editors, organised under the auspices of the South
African National Editors' Forum (SANEF), will on Sunday 17 June 2007,
meet with President Thabo Mbeki and members of his Cabinet, according to a media release.

The meeting, to be held at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria, is a follow-up to the historic meeting between editors and government held at Sun City in 2001. At this meeting, Pres. Mbeki, his cabinet and editors spent two days discussing, amongst other matters, relations between government and the media.

The June 17 meeting follows the meetings of the World Editors' Forum and World Association of Newspapers congress which were held in Cape Town earlier this month.

"Sanef values good relations with government and other stakeholders. This meeting will allow us to discuss issues of mutual concern and benefit," said SANEF chairperson Jovial Rantao.
