| Minimum Requirements | – A relevant tertiary qualification is a requirement; journalism or economics will be an advantage. – At least three years’ experience in journalism. Financial news reporting will be an advantage. – The ability to communicate well is a necessity. – Must have a sound understanding and knowledge of the digital medium and an understanding of how to deliver online content in the SA environment. |
| Skills & Competencies | – Must have a keen interest in and a good knowledge of current affairs, business and economic news. – Must be able to spot the story in analysing company results – Must have a good network of contacts in the economic and business sphere, including the government. – Must be able to generate unique economic content. – Must be a digital native with a good understanding of online media. – Must have exceptional language, writing and editing skills. – Must be versatile, flexible and adaptable to change. – Must be able to perform under pressure, with short turn-around times. – Must be available to work some Sundays and some public holidays. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | – Help write original content relevant to Fin24.com’s audience. – Editing and publishing of content. – Build a strong network of sources that can contribute to exclusive content. – Identify trends in the economy and political economy and generate strong stories around that. – Research in-depth features that tells the story of South Africa’s economy and business community. – Takes responsibility for quality of content and general appearance of the site. – Help identify and drive user-generated content. – Assist editor with new story ideas and responding creatively to breaking news. – Assist in the management of the website, including maintenance and site improvements. – Help build Fin24.com’s multimedia strategy. |
