THE Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) may have lost a "key witness" in its upcoming hearing against the SABC on the blacklisting of some political commentators and journalists, reports Thom McLachlan in Busness Day
The South African Jewish Board of Deputies has withdrawn its submission to the Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) against the SABC's alleged pro-Palestinian stance and the subsequent blacklisting of freelance journalist Paula Slier.

Following meetings with SABC head of news Snuki Zikalala, the board instead has signed agreements with the public broadcaster, including guaranteed coverage of certain commentators.

"(Commentators) Benjamin Pogrund and Bassem Eid will meet the editorial staff of the SABC on Tuesday to discuss the situation in the Middle East from a Palestinian and an Israeli position," the board said.

"Dr Zikalala will speak to the relevant people regarding getting coverage for Pogrund and Eid."
