The Board of the Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ)
today announced the appointment of Shehnaaz Bulbulia as Executive
Director of the Institute from July 1, 2009, according to a media release.

Ms Bulbulia, a journalist and media trainer for more than 20 years, is currently head of the IAJ Print Department.
Bulbulia holds a BA degree from Wits University and a Master of Science in Engineering in Leadership and Innovation from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and Copenhagen Business School. She graduated from the Star Newspaper Cadet School in 1988.
In her career Bulbulia has edited award-winning magazines and won several journalism awards.
“We are delighted to appoint Ms Bulbulia to lead the Institute into a new era after its initial phase – started in 1992 – of successfully training mid-career journalists for a democratic South Africa,” Board chairperson Joe Thloloe said.
“We believe with her experience, her knowledge of the IAJ and her academic background, she will steer the Institute as it continues to be the leading mid-career trainer for journalists in Africa.”
