Lesotho’s state television and radio services have become available via DSTV, writes Mzimkhulu Sithetho.

Prime Minster Pakalitha Mosisili launched the service recently. Lesotho
Television, Radio Lesotho and Ultimate FM are the stations now on DSTV.
The Prime Minister urged the stations to serve the nation and avoid
serving partisan political interests.

State television, which so far has only broadcast two hours a day, will
now introduce a new sports programme called ‘Megasports’ lasting
for an hour on Tuesday evenings.   Operations director Dyke Sehloho
said live sports broadcasting was still impossible because of the lack
of a proper outside broadcasting van with adequate equipment.

“We have used a lot of money for expanding the station and cannot
afford to provide live match coverages at this stage,” the director
said.

The development comes after significant financial support from China.
