The Media Institute for Southern Africa (Misa) in Malawi has a new
national director, Aubrey Chikungwa, writes Sam Makaka for
journalism.co.za.

Chikungwa will take up the post on August 1, according to a Misa statement. He  is currently lecturing at a private university, the Share World Open University in the city of Blantyre. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a masters in media and theatre, both from the University of Malawi.

Before he joined the ShareWorld Open University, Chikungwa worked for Blantyre Newspapers Limited, publishers of a number of papers including the Daily Times, the Malawi News and the Sunday Times.

The position of National Director fell vacant when the former director, Innocent Chitosi resigned after deciding to stand in the May general elections.

Chitosi worked for MISA Malawi for over seven years, first as information officer and then as national director. He was defeated in the election, and has indicated he now intends going into business and media consultancy.
