Lagos State Governor Raji Fashola, however, commiserated with the wife and family of the late journalist, saying the state would support them.
Ohu, The Guardian's Assistant Political Editor, was shot dead by an armed gang who stormed his No. 9, Oyeniyi Street, Odukoya Estate residence in Egbeda, a Lagos suburb, early last Sunday.
In a condolence message to the Guardian Management and Blessing Ochuko, wife of the deceased, and children, Oshiomhole said: "It is pathetic that Ohu was caught down at the prime of his flourishing professional career".
The statement signed by the Governor's Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. John Mayaki, said "Ohu's gruesome murder is coming after the assassination of a number of journalists in the past and this is assuming an unacceptable dimension".
Oshiomhole demanded a thorough investigation into the immediate cause of the murder of the political reporter.
He said: "The police command should spare no effort to unravel the immediate cause of Ohu's death. The perpetrators of this heinous act should be fished out to serve as deterrent to others.
"This is unusual. I would like to extend my heartfelt condolence to both his family and the management of the Guardian newspapers. The loss of your son and staff was regrettable. Please allow me to express my sincere sympathy as I share your grief over the unexpected lost of your son, husband, father and staff.
