Section 20 of the Constitution grants the right to Citizenship. Law Focus this week focusses on the challenges faced by foreign nationals in their pursuit of South African citizenship, particularly naturalisation.

The legislation providing for the discussion is the South African Citizenship Act of 1949 and its supplementary Citizenship Amendment Act 2010.

We speak to the Director-General of the Department of Home Affairs Mr Mkeseni Apleni and the Spokesperson of African Diaspora Forum Emeka Johnson.

This edition of Law Focus is produced by Khutso Tsikane. Co-hosted by Nyiko Shikwambane and Basil Sherinda. Technical production by Kutlwano Serame.
