Copyrights Amendments Act 2017

The creative industry will be undergoing some changes as government proposes new amendments to the Copyright Act of 1978. If passed, these changes will affect the royalty ownership of users, funders and artists at large.

We interview Trade Mark Attorney and partner at Adams & Adams, Werina Griffiths on issues raised with the Copyright Amendment Bill and whether is it workable and enforceable in a digital economy.

The Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) together with several artists have expressed their views on the Bill and appealed to Parliament to protect their rights as artists.
