What would your life be like if you were not a citizen of any country? Sounds unimaginable right? Well, people who are stateless and are not recognised citizens by any country do exist. Law Focus explores statelessness and its consequences.

We look at the accounts of persons who have been stateless for many years. As a consequence, these persons cannot register for any basic socio-economic needs and civil entitlements.

We hear from Moses Taunyane who shares his experience of raising a stateless granddaughter and the schooling challenges she faces as a result. Taking on his case, Head of statelessness at the Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) Lesl Muller, takes us through her work with the statelessness project

The Law Focus edition on Statelessness is produced by Khutso Tsikane. Co-hosted by Nyiko Shikwambane and Basil Sherinda. Technical production provided by Kutlwano Serame.
