The Western Cape Province has been hit with a severe drought and other extreme weather conditions such as storms, extreme cold and wild fires, so this week looked at effective water management

In news, we talked about the number of mobile apps that share phone owners’ personal data, and the amount of data that is been shared. We also looked at Lumen Privacy Monitor, which analyses the amount of data that is shared. We also looked at the research done by scientists that indicated that people can read others mind through their eyes.

In our first story, producer Matthew Law talked to Professor Frans Louwinger a Hydropower consultant about hydroelectricity, and how certain hydroelectric peaking power stations are able to make use of water to store.

Unscience takes a look at techniques and the science of sword swallowing. As well as the tips that sword swallowers use.

Also, we talk to Professor Catherine Ngila from the Applied Chemistry department at the University of Johannesburg at new methods of treating water and water management such as water harvesting.
