SABC board member Cecil Msomi is also chief director of communication
in the office of KZN premier Sbu Ndebele, according to a posting by DA
director of media and research in Parliament Gareth van Onselen on the
Inside Politics blog.
Msomi serves on the SABC board's news sub-committee.
The blog also refers once again to earlier disclosures in the M&G that Msomi had an interest in a PR firm, and was guilty of a conflict of interest in failing to disclose that fact. Van Onselen also writes that the firm has been getting contracts from the provincial government.
He adds: “In the meantime the public should add Cecil Msomi to its list of politically aligned, conflicted and compromised members of the SABC board – joining Christine Qunta, Eddie Funde, Thami Mazwai and CEO Dali Mpofu. That’s even before we get to Dr Snuki Zikalala.â€ÂÂ
