The South African Broadcasting Corporation has formally launched its East African bureau in Nairobi, reports SABC News
The ceremony was presided over by South Africa's deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka at the kenyan capital.
Snuki Zikalala , the SABC News and Current Affairs Group Executive, described the launch as the beginning of unprecedented coverage of the African continent by an African channel.
SABC News has been operating in Kenya since 1999.
The launch of the upgraded bureau heralds a new phase of extensive SABC coverage of the East African, Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa regions.
