SABC workers have embarked on strike action ahead of a crucial
meeting between unions and the public broadcaster's new interim board
to resolve their wage dispute, writes Siyabonga Mkhwanazi in The Star.
Although the stayaway on 29 July by members of the Communications Workers' Union (CWU) and the Media Workers' Association did not affect TV and radio programmes, the unions warned that if the wages stand-off was not resolved soon the SABC could grind to a halt.
Workers demand a 12.2 percent wage hike.
Unions are to meet tomorrow with the interim board, chaired by Irene Charnley.
