MAIN PURPOSE
To play a key role in supporting all elements of the Media Relations portfolio, including the implementation of plans to profile Vodacom Business and its enterprise offerings.
Receive, analyse and coordinate responses to media enquiries with regards to customer complaints
Manage relations with the media and serve as the primary point of contact with consumer journalists and internal stakeholders relevant to addressing customer complaints.
Propose media pieces that differentiate Vodacom Business and its offerings from competitors.
Develop tailored communication plans for Vodacom’s enterprise (broadband, cloud), financial services (m-pesa and insurance) and fibre to the home (FTTH) services. Plans to include media briefings, press releases etc.
JOB OBJECTIVES
Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, especially consumer journalists.
Timely management of consumer media enquiries, including preparing appropriate responses.
Monitor and provide analysis of customer complaints, especially on issues consumer journalists are focussing on.
Proactively engage with customer care, legal and other internal stakeholders to ensure consumer media responses are address issues and position Vodacom positively.
Manage and position Vodacom Business products and services in close collaboration with the Enterprise Business Unit’s marketing team
Pitch Vodacom business stories to journalists and media.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
In-depth knowledge of local media landscape
Understanding of the PR process.
Good communication skills – being able to clearly present recommendations and insight to both internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills – experience in writing press releases.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills – must be able to interpret corporate information, financial and economic information.
Good command of Word, Excel and PowerPoint – must be able use all three to develop press releases, presentations and analyse data.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Matric
Degree or diploma in Communications, Media studies, Journalism or Public Relations
Min 5-8 years relevant corporate communications, agency or media relations experience, with at least three years direct/hands on experience in working with the media.
