The Journalism Department at the University of the Witwatersrand seeks to appoint a Taco Kuiper Chair/Fellow in Investigative Journalism. This person would be required to teach and supervise graduate students, participate in our activities in this area (the Taco Kuiper Awards and Grants and the African Investigative Journalism Conference) and to write, research and publish.
The position is available either as a medium-term (from three months) or longer term (up to two years) contract.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Chair:
- Tertiary-level education. (A PhD would be a strong advantage, but not essential if the candidate has extensive professional experience.)
- Experience in investigative reporting, and/or a record of writing and research
- Capacity to teach and supervise
Senior Fellow:
- Strong professional qualifications and experience
- Experience in investigative reporting
- Capacity to teach and supervise
Remuneration: a competitive grant-funded academic package with benefits and generous leave, depending on qualifications, achievement and experience.
